The ANC in Mpumalanga is pinning its hopes on scheduling branch meetings on one weekend, so party members are too busy in their own branches to create havoc elsewhere.

The party is trying to hold its provincial conference before the June deadline, but violent clashes and court bids have halted previous attempts to elect a new leadership.

Acting chairperson Mandla Ndlovu said they were aware of "culprits" from factions on a mission to cause disunity and political decay, and to delay branch meetings from convening in the province.
