With the ANC having said it will only announce its mayoral candidates post the municipal elections after suitable candidates have been put through a rigorous interview process, the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) is now demanding the right to have a say in the selection process.

"We (the youth league) want to form part of the interview panel so that the interviews really do result in the best candidates being put forward," ANCYL convener Nonceba Mhlauli told News24 on Sunday during the ANC's election campaign in the Free State.
