
Cape Town – Five people, including a baby boy, were burnt to death in a shack fire in the Nomzamo informal settlement in Strand in the early hours of Friday, the City of Cape Town's fire and rescue services said.
Five shacks were destroyed, the city said in a statement.
Among the five people killed were a man, a woman, two girls and a baby boy.
The city said 18 people were displaced as a result of the blaze.
"The cause of the fire is undetermined at this stage," it said.
