Cape Town Mayor Dan Plato is not giving up his mayoral chain without a fight.

Plato has sent an internal letter to the DA-led council caucus, outlining why he deserves a full term as executive mayor of the city.

With the battle lines drawn, three top DA members have emerged in the race to lead the City of Cape Town, as the DA starts its process of selecting mayoral candidates for the upcoming local government elections.
