Former acting national police commissioner Khomotso Phahlane, who has been charged in connection with multimillion-rand "blue lights" tender fraud allegations, is fighting tooth and nail to get the charges dropped.
Along with several others, including former deputy national police commissioner Bonang Mgwenya, he faces charges of fraud, corruption and forgery in relation to the allegedly irregular procurement of emergency lights.
The tender for the fitting of emergency lights on police vehicles was awarded to Vimpie Manthata's company, Instrumentation for Traffic Law Enforcement, in 2016.
