The private prosecution unit of the lobby group, AfriForum, has written to the office of the Northern Cape Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) seeking answers on a "failure to prosecute" in the case of a child that was allegedly shot and killed by a fellow minor.

In a letter dated 10 January, AfriForum asked the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA)  to reconsider their decision not to prosecute more than four years after Maverick Links, 14, was shot dead.

The lobby group represented the Links family at the formal inquest in November last year.
