Senior advocate and acting judge Paul Kennedy died before he could face trial for his alleged involvement in a child sex ring, but his co-accused, Gerhard Ackerman, has gone on trial - and has been charged with Kennedy's crimes too.
Ackerman, 52, appeared in the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg on Monday where his trial officially got under way as he started pleading to the more than 730 charges against him.
The charges mostly relate to a child sex ring he allegedly ran which involved Kennedy, according to the indictment.
