Mpumalanga police have launched a manhunt for about 15 armed robbers following an ATM bombing in Acornhoek. The robbers made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The incident took place on Wednesday morning, said police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala.
"The police from Acornhoek are investigating a case of robbery following an incident that took place in the early hours of Wednesday, around 02:00, at Acornhoek Old Complex near Bushbuckridge," said Mohlala.
Police said reports indicated that a security guard was on duty when he noticed a group of about 15 armed suspects approaching the ATM. The witness said the group detonated explosives to gain access to the ATM.
No arrests have been made.
"SAPS urges anyone with information which can assist in the investigation or on the whereabouts of the suspects to immediately contact Detective Lieutenant Colonel Albert Manzini at 082 318 9925.
