While the country faced a health crisis that crippled the economy, and also resulting in more than 50 000 deaths - there were some scandals that caused obstacles in an already uphill battle. 

Today, 5 March, marks a year since South Africa reported its first Covid-19 case.

And the country's fight against the novel coronavirus saw companies and individuals being accused of corruption in relation to the procurement of personal protective equipment (PPE).
