The South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (Sahpra) has started the process of investigating if the Russian produced Sputnik V might be a viable Covid-19 vaccine for the country.
Sahpra chief executive Dr Boitumelo Semete on Friday confirmed they had received documentation for the Sputnik V developed by the Gamaleya Institute in Russia. The regulator is now evaluating the data provided for safety, quality, and efficacy of the vaccine before making a decision.
