The latest excess deaths report by the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) indicates that fatalities among those 60 and older have shown a decrease since the Covid-19 vaccination drive started.

The SAMRC has been tracking excess deaths in the country since the Covid-19 pandemic started last year.

The latest report tracked excess deaths from 25 to 31 July and it showed that, once the vaccination campaign started, excess deaths in the 60-plus age group decreased.
