Covid-19: Why the state is the sole procurer of vaccines

The reasons why the state is the sole procurer of Covid-19 vaccines include ensuring equity in access and it is the preference of companies, who manufacture vaccines, to deal with governments.

On Thursday, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize and the deputy director-general of health, Anban Pillay, briefed the National Council of Provinces on the government's vaccine rollout plan.

"We are in a situation where we believe the opportunity exists for our people to overcome the virus," Mkhize said.
