It’s déjà vu for Johannesburg residents who suffered through severe water outages in October last year, which forced the national government to step in.

Water reserves remain extremely low and even empty because of power outages and increased consumption due to the hot weather, bulk water supplier Rand Water stressed.

The entity said its water levels started dropping from 9 January.
