A manufacturer has refused to comment on claims that donkey carts it produced for beneficiaries, mainly women, in Mahikeng, were not suitable for the rough terrain of the villages in the province.

This after some of the roofs started to collapse almost a week after the North West community safety and transport department handed them over to beneficiaries in Dibono and Manawana villages.

The carts, which came with a price tag of R780 000, were meant to be a means of transport for school pupils and to transport elderly to pension paypoints and sick people to clinics.
