An eyesore of dilapidated, vandalised buildings may greet you upon entering Meadowlands, Soweto, but the Dube hostel project appears to be well underway.

Upon visiting the site on Monday morning, News 24 established that the source of confusion regarding the housing project and its implementation may be due to local leadership, which "governs" or has authority in the community.

A tour of the site revealed that the hostel project is underway, but most of the buildings currently unoccupied are hidden at the back of the area, not the front. There were 65 employees working on 112 units, which are being refurbished and are expected to be finalised in July.
