Durban - A mechanic was killed when a truck rolled onto him in Durban on Tuesday morning, paramedics said.
Rescuecare spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said the man was working underneath a truck in Vialls Place, Clare Estate, shortly before noon, when it rolled backwards and pinned him beneath it.
"The Durban Fire Department had to use hydraulic equipment to lift the truck up to free the man. Unfortunately, due to the severe injuries he had sustained, he passed away before paramedics had arrived," Jamieson said.
He described it as a "freak accident" and said police were investigating.
