The Eastern Cape police's legal department has been accused of colluding with law firms to milk billions from the state through legal claims.

The accusation by the Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (Popcru) came two days after Eastern Cape Safety MEC Weziwe Tikana-Gxotiwe announced that legal claims against the police in the province were nearing R8 billion.
