Fighting for a second term in office, Eastern Cape Premier and ANC provincial leader Oscar Mabuyane says the party is paying the heavy price of not guarding the "precious movement", which, at present, is neither strong nor intact.
During a provincial executive committee (PEC) meeting on Monday, Mabuyane told party members the ANC had gone astray and veered away from some of the most fundamental values.
"If there is lack of trust between leaders, there is certainly not going to be trust between cadres in various structures. That spills over to the communities we serve; hence the trust deficit between our movement and the masses is widening and leading to our continuous decline in electoral support.
