The ANC is promising snap by-elections, after the local government elections, in an effort to appease voters who have raised concern about the type of candidates the ANC has selected. 

Deputy President David Mabuza led this charge to the community of QwaQwa, in the troubled Maluti-a-Phofung municipality, where the community had rejected party candidates.
