While National Treasury says the financial position of the North West remains healthy, a whopping R2.3 billion is believed to have been squandered on dodgy tenders.

On top of this, national government departments running the affairs of the province after it was place under administration have so far spent R70 million on administrators.

The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) and Hawks have set their sights on corrupt tenders in which billions were lost and, in some instances, no services or goods delivered.
