The exact toxins that led to the deaths of 21 teens at Enyobeni tavern in East London are yet to be confirmed, but a medical expert who surveyed the scene says the inhalation of fumes from a petrol generator cannot be ruled out.

"I was at the scene, and we looked for any potential sources of gas leaks because it is one of the possibilities," a respected Eastern Cape medical expert told News24 on Wednesday.

"There was a generator there, and carbon monoxide is one of the possibilities that could have led to the deaths," he said.
