Eskom rejects City of Cape Town's request to exempt water pump facilities from load shedding

The City of Cape Town's request to Eskom to have key water pump stations exempted from load shedding to protect crucial water supplies has been rejected. 

This amid mounting concerns the rolling blackouts could damage critical infrastructure, particularly dams, purification plants and distribution centres, which make up the Western Cape's water supply system.

Eskom told News24 the City's request was rejected, and explained its process to deal with applications for load curtailment.
