Experts say 'nothing sinister' about Mantashe and Yellen's meeting on the sidelines of ANC NEC event

While eyebrows were raised about the timing of the meeting between Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe and United States Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen - on the sidelines of an ANC event this week - experts say it was due to practicality and was unlikely to have been sinister. 

This meeting came after the South African government hosted Russian foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov, earlier this week.

The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) said Mantashe's meeting with Yellen was to discuss US support for South Africa’s Just Energy Transition.
