Four Western Cape municipalities owe Eskom millions in outstanding debt. 

Beaufort West, Cederberg, Kannaland and Matzikama owed Eskom nearly R255 million as of 11 August, Western Cape Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning MEC Anton Bredell told News24.

"Eskom has enough challenges to deal with, and the Western Cape government does not want to add to this by being a defaulting client in terms of electricity payments," he said.
