Friday's weather: Heavy rain expected in Eastern Cape and KZN, fire warning for Northern Cape

The South African Weather Service has issued a warning of extremely high fire danger conditions over the Khai-Ma Municipality in the Northern Cape.

A yellow level 2 warning has been issued for disruptive rain leading to flooding in the north-eastern parts of the Eastern Cape and the escarpment, as well as the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.

Gauteng will be partly cloudy and warm, with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme. 

It will be partly cloudy and warm in Mpumalanga with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered over the Highveld.

Limpopo will be partly cloudy and warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers.

The North West will be fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy with afternoon showers and thundershowers.

It will be fine and warm to hot in the Free State, becoming partly cloudy with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.

In the Northern Cape, conditions will be fine and warm to hot, but very hot in the north-east.

The wind along the coast will be southerly to south-easterly and moderate to fresh.

The Western Cape will be partly cloudy in the morning, otherwise fine and warm, but hot in places over the West Coast and the Breede Valley. It will be cloudy along the south coast, where it will be cool, with light rain expected east of George during the afternoon.

The wind along the coast will be light and variable along the south-west coast in the early morning, otherwise it will be fresh to strong southerly but moderate to fresh westerly to south-westerly along the south coast.

The wind will become south-easterly south of Cape Columbine in the evening.

The expected UVB sunburn index is very high. 

In the western half of the Eastern Cape, conditions are cloudy and warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers over the eastern parts and along the coast.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly.

Cloudy and warm but cool conditions are expected in the eastern half, along the Wild Coast and the adjacent interior.

Scattered showers and thundershowers can be expected, with widespread rainfall in the north-east. 

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly.

KwaZulu-Natal will be cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers.

In the morning, the wind along the coast will be a moderate north-easterly north of Durban, otherwise a moderate to fresh south-westerly.
