Taxi operators are worrying how much longer they can keep absorbing massive fuel price hikes to cushion commuters already battling financially.

There have been unconfirmed rumours of a national strike over the hikes, but taxi operators said they would continue to show up for work because they could not afford not to.

Petrol went up by a massive 75c per litre on Wednesday, with diesel going up by between 72.5c (0.05% sulphur) and 74.5c (0.005% sulphur).
