Garden Route gearing up for holiday season as Covid-19 cases rise

When President Cyril Ramaphosa had his "family meeting" on the coronavirus pandemic on 11 November, the tourism industry was waiting with bated breath to hear whether a more stringent lockdown was coming. 

"Bookings were very weird," said Aneli Gerber, the chief operating officer of Mossel Bay Tourism. 

"A lot of people didn't pay their deposits until the president spoke," she added.
