Gauteng police have launched a manhunt for 15 armed robbers who made off with an undisclosed amount of cash in a cash-in-transit heist in Krugersdorp on Monday evening.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Netshiunda, said the incident happened on the corner of Barratt Road and Louis Friedman Street in Factoria when robbers armed with automatic rifles brought a cash van to a standstill after firing several shots at it.

Netshiunda said the group also exchanged gunfire with police who responded to the scene.
"No injuries had been reported by the time of compiling this report, and K9 and other crime scene experts were still active on the scene.
"Two empty money boxes were found lying along Battery and Rory streets in Wentworth Park. Preliminary investigations suggested that the suspects failed to open the safes during the robbery," he said.
