The ocean economy is vital for creating wealth, with the potential to create jobs. But a new research paper has called into question the costs – especially as they try to save the last of the 500 humpback dolphins off the South African coast.
The Indian Ocean humpback dolphins (Sousa plumbea) is the first, and to date only, endangered marine mammal resident in South African waters. The humpback dolphin is found along the south and east coast from False Bay to Kosi Bay.
