Cape Town - The Hawks on Friday urged any "investors" who were possibly conned in an alleged pyramid scheme run by Pastor Colin Davids to come forward.

Davids, who worked in Parow as a pastor at New Direction Grace Ministries, will appear in the Bellville Magistrate's Court next Wednesday for a follow-up court appearance.

He was released on R100 000 bail in June last year after being charged with fraud for allegedly contravening the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act and Banks Act.

His trading company, Platinum Forex, was allegedly not registered with the Financial Services Board and he allegedly promised his clients higher than usual returns on their investments.

eNCA reported last year that most of his victims were retired government employees or those who had resigned from government structures.

In the statement on Friday, the Hawks Western Cape spokesperson Captain Lloyd Ramovha said their investigation had reached an "advanced stage" and that several "investors" had already come forward with affidavits.

"However, in the interest of justice, we appeal to those who have fallen [victim to] the said scheme to come forward in order to further bolster investigations," he said.

"Victims' co-operation will ensure that justice is served expeditiously, to enable them to find closure sooner."

Victims are urged to contact Lieutenant Colonel Jerome Hardenberg on 082 850 9747 or to email him at HardenbergJ@saps.gov.za for appointments to depose affidavits.
