Helter skelter: Inside Ramaphosa's resignation - and his decision to hold on

When President Cyril Ramaphosa began chairing his last Cabinet meeting of the year last Wednesday, he was reassured that the Section 89 panel report would not be damning against him. 

His Cabinet members were in a festive mood as they were told unexpectedly that it was the last meeting of the year. 

While a celebratory lunch was prepared for his ministers, Cabinet took a while to conclude because there was a lot to get through before the end of the year.
