Durban - Flamboyant Durban power couple Shawn and S’bu Mpisane, renowned for their gaudy parties and lavish lifestyle, will be spending quality time together "as a family" in rural KwaZulu-Natal.
Shawn Mpisane told News24 she would be seeing in 2016 "on the farm".
"I will just be on the farm with my family to spend some quality time. Do you know where Umbumbulu is?" she quizzed.
"You know, sometimes you just need to go back to your roots and reflect. I was born and raised here," she said, commenting on the marked change of pace.
Last year the two rang in the new year surrounded by decadence in a party at their home.
According to a City Press reporter that attended, French champagne and expensive whisky flowed until morning, while heaped buffets left even the most indulgent food lover begging for mercy.
As they left well after 07:00, guests were presented with gifts – the women expensive perfumes, and the men Cuban cigars.
VIP guests – including Generations stars Menzi Ngubane, Zolisa Xaluva, Winnie Modise, and Thami Mngqolo and his wife Jo Anne Reyneke; Isibaya actors Nomzamo Mbatha and Mampho Brescia; and former national police commissioner Bheki Cele and wife Thembeka – were chauffeured to and from the party in limousines and BMWs.
The couple flew 14 of their VIPs to Durban and put them up in fancy hotels, including the five star Oyster Box in Umhlanga.
The couple have scored hundreds of millions of rands in government tenders and own an array of companies - from construction to cleaning.
Their massive home in La Lucia’s Addison Drive is often home to parties attended by leagues of A-list guests, and is also home to the couple’s multi-million rand fleet of luxury cars.
They have courted controversy in the past, and faced fraud charges which have since all been withdrawn.
