A hit has allegedly been taken out on the man accused of transporting 800kg of compressed pure cocaine on the N1 Highway in Pretoria last week.

This was revealed in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Friday, where 39-year-old Neil Pieter Van Zyl, appeared with his co-accused, a Lithuanian national, Valdas Tenikaitis.

The defence had opposed a media application to take photos of the accused, telling the court that they were informed that Van Zyl's life was in danger.
