"Gender-based violence is more painful when it hits home."

An emotional uncle, who lost his niece at the hands of her spouse, described femicide as a scourge reigning over many relationships in South Africa.

Hlengiwe Msimango, 29, was shot and killed at her Norkerm Park home by her spouse, Mosa Ntsibande, 33, on 3 August.
