ANC MP Mathole Motshekga says an "illegitimate" royal council appointed a "puppet" as an heir in order to steal Balobedu public funds.

Reacting to last week's announcement that Lekukela Modjadji was appointed king of Limpopo's Balobedu tribe, Motshekga slammed the royal council's decision to overlook 16-year-old Princess Masalanabo Modjadji and appoint her brother, 24-year-old Prince Lekukela, instead.
