Eskom has awarded a contract worth almost half a billion rand to a company that seemingly had sight of confidential documents before the tender could be awarded.
And despite a whistleblower alerting the parastatal's audit and forensics division to the possible illegality, no one at the company raised the matter before the contract, to do refurbishment at Tutuka power station in Mpumalanga, was awarded.
Now Eskom has launched a full forensic investigation into the matter which could see the company go to court to overturn the contract.
