World renowned primatologist Dame Jane Goodall has weighed in on a conflict over baboon management in the Kogelberg biosphere, referring to the baboon management guidelines as "unnecessarily hostile tactics".

Goodall has won world acclaim for her research of wild chimpanzees in Tanzania, since 1960. She has won numerous awards for her work, including an Order of the British Empire (OBE), received in 2004. She is also a UN "Messenger of Peace", appointed in 2002 by then UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
