Jeep speedster nabbed doing 200km/h on Ekurhuleni freeway

Johannesburg  A Jeep driver who claimed to be rushing to the airport was among six speedsters nabbed by the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department along the Albertina Sisulu freeway early on Sunday morning.

“He was clocked at the blistering 200km/h,” said EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Wilfred M Kgasago in a statement.

“The rest of the speedsters were arrested… doing speeds of 173km/h, 169km/h, 166km/h, 167km/h and 165km/h.

Those arrested have been released on bail after being charged with reckless and negligent driving.  

They are due in court on Monday.
