On Tuesday, the council sitting to elect lucrative oversight committee leaders in the City of Johannesburg will go ahead under stricter than usual security.

This, in a bid to avoid the chaotic scenes which marred the first sitting of the Joburg council last Thursday.

On Monday, Speaker Vasco da Gama's office confirmed to News24 that security would be in place to protect staff and councillors.
