Seven people were killed and 30 others injured following a multiple vehicle accident in Hidcote, in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.
The crash left some of the vehicles, including a tanker, in flames.
KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Robert Mckenzie confirmed that seven people were killed in the deadly crash.
"Firefighters have managed to contain majority of the blaze. Most of the fire has been extinguished. However, the tanker is still smoking, with a few flames coming out of the burnt truck that was transporting flammable liquid. . It has been discovered that sadly seven people have died in this crash," Mckenzie said.

Earlier, Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst reported that the fatal crash took place around 15:42 on Monday.
"Reports indicate that a bus, tanker and multiple cars were involved in a collision, which left four people critical and other patients with minor to serious injuries.
"The fire and rescue services are currently on (the) scene trying to extinguish the fire to determine if any deaths have occurred," said Herbst.
