Durban – A KwaZulu-Natal man has been killed after he was impaled by a wooden beam after washing his car in Inanda Road, Verulam, north of Durban.
Reaction Unit South Africa head Prem Balram on Monday said that the 63-year-old man had finished washing his car on Sunday afternoon when tragedy struck.
"Upon arrival it was established that, while parking his BMW in the garage, the deceased knocked into a supporting concrete beam, causing the roof to collapse onto his vehicle. He was killed after a wooden beam penetrated his chest and pinned him against his seat."
Balram said that the Umhlanga Fire and Rescue Services had to cut the beam with a saw in order to free the deceased man from the vehicle.
