Five people have been arrested for the possession of almost 100 different types of explosives and the possession of a stolen vehicle.
On Wednesday, Highway Patrol officers spotted a speeding Toyota Quantum minibus, containing five occupants, and stopped them on the R101 highway in the Waterberg District.
Inside the vehicle, officers found a black plastic bag containing 97 different categories of explosives and a battery, according to police spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.

"The suspects failed to provide valid documents authorising them to be in possession of these explosives and they were immediately arrested. The preliminary police investigations have revealed that the minibus was reported stolen [in] Kempton Park in the Gauteng province during February 2021," Ngoepe added.
The five people are expected to appear in the Mokopane Magistrate's Court soon.
