Limpopo police have arrested a 33-year-old taxi driver for allegedly killing a man and his son at a petrol station in Makhado in a suspected act of road rage.
Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe ordered a full investigation into the shooting, the firearm that was used and the circumstances that led to the shooting.
Police said the road rage incident started along the N1 highway on Friday.
"The taxi driver allegedly turned into a filling station at Banderlierkop and was reportedly followed by the two males.
"While at the filling station, the taxi driver produced a gun and shot both the father and son. The son died instantly and the father died on arrival at Makhado Memorial Hospital," said police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo.
The deceased have been identified as Andre Duvenhage, 52, and his son, Danie, 29.
The taxi driver was arrested in Bandelierkop, outside Makhado, and is under police guard in hospital after he accidentally shot himself during the incident.
His licensed firearm was confiscated for ballistic tests.
