Social Development Minister Lindiwe Zulu says a costly payments blunder which saw company directors receiving the R350 Covid-19 relief grant, was due to government's grants payments agency not having access to databases used by auditors.
In December last year, Auditor-General Tsakani Maluleke revealed that investigations into grant payments by the SA Social Security Agency (Sassa), found that 1 513 grant beneficiaries were company directors who scored government contracts on top of receiving the R350.
In a written parliamentary question, IFP MP Liesl van der Merwe asked Zulu what steps her department had taken since Maluleke's announcement.
