ANC head of economic transformation Mmamoloko Kubayi is now addressing the media on the discussion that took place in her breakaway discussion room.

She says land reform and redistribution was rigorously debated with specialists on the matter forming part of the discussions.

Kubayi says despite the party failing to amend the Constitution, there is still a view that government must foster land redistribution and ensure that the majority of South Africans receive land.

She says deliberations were also around energy security given the current Eskom crisis that is leading to rolling blackouts.

Here's what ANC delegates said about SOEs, energy, and the R350 basic income grant

- The ANC's economic transformation commission will recommend that the Department of Public Enterprises be scrapped and state-owned companies placed with their line departments.

- The outgoing head of the economic transformation committee, Mmamaloko Kubayi, gave journalists "a taste" of what had been discussed behind closed doors.

- While the ANC did not complete its conference, policy resolutions will be tabled in January for debate and adoption.

True to form, the announcement of the ANC's new national executive committee has been delayed. Again.

On Tuesday evening, media members were told it would still happen that evening.

It never did.

This morning, the ANC sent out an alert that it would be announced by 10:00. That was 35 minutes ago.

Motlanthe kicks the briefing off with a brief statement. He says the electoral committee was given a mandate to ensure that it delivers results that are credible. Motlanthe explains that every province deployed two observers.

Motlanthe says at least 91% of the delegates were able to vote given that some had left the venue. According to the former president, well over 200 candidates were on the ballot.
