Ace Magashule's defiant letter seeking to 'suspend' President Cyril Ramaphosa last week created such chaos in the ANC that people from other countries began calling the party to verify the information.

Party deputy secretary-general Jessie Duarte told the media on Tuesday that Magashule's letter "suspending a sitting president" would have had "many repercussions".

It was for this reason, the ANC's national executive committee (NEC) meeting condemned Magashule's actions and instructed him to apologise publicly or face disciplinary action.
