Butterworth - A 40-year-old man has handed himself over to police after he shot three men, killing two, apparently because one of the deceased men had parked in the middle of the road.
The incident happened in Butterworth in the Eastern Cape in the early hours of Sunday morning, police said.
“The allegation is that the suspect and the deceased were enjoying themselves in a tavern at Zithulele Township… in the early hours of Sunday,” said Captain Jackson Manatha.
The arrested man had apparently wanted the driver of the car parked in the middle of the road to move, he said.
"[He] wanted the deceased to move their car so that he could drive where [they] were parked," said Manatha.
Police are still establishing what exactly happened afterwards but in the aftermath, two men, aged 24 and 29 respectively, were shot and killed.
A third man was taken to hospital in a serious condition after also allegedly being shot by the same suspect.
The 40-year-old handed himself over to police shortly afterwards.
He has been charged with two counts of murder and one of attempted murder and will appear soon before the Butterworth Magistrate Court.
