The journey that led to the Free State being the top-performing province in the matric results for a third consecutive year began 10 years ago.

The province's greatest step towards success began with empowering mathematics and physical sciences teachers in 2012, Free State Education MEC Tate Makgoe told News24.

He said the current programme would see the Free State leading for many years to come.
