Murder accused Jeremy Sias had an "overfondness" for cars and took Meghan Cremer's car for a joyride, not knowing the vehicle belonged to her or that she had been murdered.

This is the version heard in the Western Cape High Court on Monday, where Sias pleaded not guilty to the horse rider's murder. He also claimed innocence on charges of theft, aggravated robbery and defeating the ends of justice.

The advocate for the defence, Bashier Sibda, said his client had found Cremer's Toyota Auris, the keys in the ignition, on 3 August 2019 and had done "what he did before" – drive off the farm, where he was employed as a general worker, use the vehicle for the night, and return it later.
