A policeman accused of assaulting Meghan Cremer murder accused Jeremy Sias denied laying a hand on him, going as far as insisting he had not even been rude or forceful when interrogating him.
"I am a commissioned officer - that would be unbecoming behaviour. If you interrogate, you have to win the person's trust. There was no reason to assault him," Captain Ashley Pietersen testified in the Western Cape High Court on Thursday.
Pietersen was a State witness in a trial-within-a-trial, in which the defence is challenging the admissibility of the statement Sias made to police, which said that he killed Cremer, prior to him leading authorities to where she had been dumped.
